Welcome to Webfiction World!

Because I am insane and like to take on more projects than I can handle, I am now involved in a brand new venture: a podcast.

Introducing Webfiction World!

Myself and my publisher sidekick MCM are co-hosting a podcast dedicated exclusively to the joys, wonders and intricacies of online fiction. We’re both staunch supporters of indie publishing and the Creative Commons movement, and generally enjoy insulting each other while hopefully being informative.

Two episodes are up so far:

Each episode is roughly an hour long, with updates expected bi-monthly. The full archives will be permanently available here.

So if you write, read, or would like to know more about online fiction, swing over to Webfiction World and listen to our pearls of wisdom!

p.s. If you’re a webfiction author and would like to be featured, check out my call for submissions on Web Fiction Guide.

Friday flashing over on Greg X Graves

Greg X. Graves is a splendiferous author who has penned the most amusing Bears, Recycling and Confusing Time Paradoxes, a darkly funny Aesop’s Fables.

If you haven’t read any of Greg’s work, you should do it now. Right now. Go on. I’m waiting.

Okay. Now on to my real news of the day.

Today — just to be crazy! — I’ve posted a friday flash over on Greg’s blog. I’ve tried to emulate his quasi-ridiculous style, and the story starts with:

Doctor’s Orders

“It’s definitely infected,” the man said, cradling his arm to his chest. He traced the edges of the bite mark with his fingers, scowling at the briefcase by his feet. “Damn zombies.”

Dr Graves coughed politely so that he didn’t have to respond. He adjusted his spectacles and stared at the single piece of paper on his desk, wishing there were more so that he could flip through them professionally. It’s what doctors were good at: flipping through paper.

Winners, Radio Shows and Other Insanity

It’s NEWS time, baby!

1. Blog Tour Cage Match
Remember the blog tour I took part in?

Well, I didn’t win — that honor went to Ann Charles and her excellent novel Nearly Departed in Deadwood — but I had a blast taking part, and got to meet a bunch of new people, so I feel like a winner anyway.

But some of you don’t need to be content with just feeling like winners. Some of you ARE winners… of my Hungry For You giveaway!

I pulled in all the comments from my sponsor’s websites (infinite amount of thanks to them: Hopeless Bibliophile, Attack of the Book, Black Sun Reviews, The Itzel Library, ParaYourNormal, and The Pen & Muse) and pulled out a trusty random number generator.

Then I realised there were over 60 people entered to win, and felt a little guilty. So I decided to DOUBLE the prizes. (Yep, I’m crazy.)

Without further ado, congratulations to:

  • Ally and Andii, for winning signed paperback copies of Hungry For You, a surprise ebook, and limited edition postcards;
  • Heather Powers, Summer, Lisa, Elena Gray, Alexisread & Eileen for winning a postcard and surprise ebook each!

I’ll be emailing the winners for their details. And thank you all for taking part!

2. Other Insanity
If you didn’t win and are feeling a little sad, never fear!

Over at 1889 Labs (my publisher), we’re running Party Like It’s 1889, a month-long promotion with over a dozen prizes up to grabs and loads of ways to take part. Prizes include a KINDLE, and even VIP tickets which will get you free advance ebook copies of every book we publish this year. #yesreally

My week of promotion on site begins May 16th and I’ve got some fun stuff lined up, but feel free to swing by now and win prizes!

3. Kindle Nation Daily
My big KND day I mentioned in my last post is next Monday (gasp!) and right now I’m sitting at 11 reviews on Amazon.com. If you’re one of four kind-hearted people who want to help bring that number up to 15, please swing by Amazon (it’s got to be the US site) to leave a 2-line review. I’ll love you forever.

4. Radio!
On Sunday at 9:30pm (4:30pm EDT), I’m going to be interviewed on Jake Rakestraw Talks, a weekend online radio show dedicated to interviewing authors about their passions, writing, and publishing. Due to time differences, the show will be pre-recorded, but I’ll make sure to be online while it’s airing. I hope you’ll stop by and listen in!

So that’s what’s up with me. What’s new with you?

Hungry For You Now 2 Months Old!

It seems like ages ago since I announced the release of Hungry For You. Strange to think it’s only been two months since the ebook came out; one month since print. In that time I’ve sold 70+ copies, despite not putting in as much marketing effort as I should have, and I have to say I’m really happy with the responses I’ve had.

Other good news: I ran a Goodreads giveaway for HFU and over 1,000 people entered the competition. Woo! And I’ll be pimping Hungry For You a bit more during the upcoming Blog Tour de Force (April 18-25), so if you run a book blog site and want to help out, get in touch!

But enough about my books, let’s talk about me!

No, just kidding. Let’s talk about my favourite poet, Gabriel Gadfly. He is a related subject, after all; his poem A Love To Die For is the epigraph in Hungry For You and is probably one of the best zombie love poems out there. Gabriel is also running a video reading competition where readers have to submit videos of them reading his work.

Cue video:

(Please ignore my crap hair. Also I have a cold. So there. Be gentle.)

Much thanks and love to Gabriel and all you other readers, too. Stay gold!
